GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for coordination of operational and quality activities associated with the introduction of new Dell products at ODM suppliers for Consumer notebooks. This includes managing/driving supplier factory readiness, supplier quality management plan implementation, supplier production ramp, and issue resolution related to supplier materials/processes. Interface with other Engineering Operations teams to ensure supplier plan meets all new platform introduction schedule and quality gates. As a member of the Operation Engineering team, drive supplier to implement business improvement processes for quality and operations. Drive supplier manufacturing strategies based on product and process quality metrics, product plans and roadmaps.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for:
- Serves as the primary operations focal point between Dell and the supplier manufacturing facility.
- Responsible for supplier process qualification to ensure successful product launches.
- Provide leadership and work with other functional teams to resolve supplier quality issues during new product introduction. Drive and approve supplier FA and CLCA processes.
- Identify and mitigate potential quality and capacity risks to Dell’s supply chain to ensure continuity of supply. Includes collaboration with Global Supply Manager.
- Utilize product and process postmortems to drive supplier preventive actions and process improvement plans.
- Provide leadership for development and implementation of an effective supplier new product introduction process to support successful Dell product launch including ramp to volume schedule and fulfillment model support.
- Provide leadership for development and implementation of an effective quality program at supplier manufacturing facility to support Dell operational expectations.
- Drive supplier execution of quality tools and methodologies to ensure requirements are fully implemented and met.
- Support Dell Operation Engineering activities and initiatives to improve Dell’s ability to meet customer requirements.
- Evaluate supplier performance including Dell operational and quality metrics. Drive and monitor supplier managed continuous improvement programs.
- Participate in supplier quality system audits to support business commodity teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Utilize knowledge of statistical quality tools to drive and assist suppliers in their improvement.
- Ability to manage workflow as required to meet deadlines and commitments
- Knowledge/ implementation experience in advanced quality methodologies and tools such as design of experiments, D-FMEA, P-FMEA, process control plan, sampling plans
- BPI or 6 Sigma certified preferred.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Prefer engineering graduates with experience in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering and applied/material science with minimum of four years related experience in the field of manufacturing and supplier quality. Product design background will be an added advantage.

Lead conference calls and meetings, address questions with sense of urgency & ownership, receive and/or share information, promote, influence, advise, negotiate, and/or direct suppliers, peers, and management within and outside the department.
